Most of my working life centred within the commercial sector, manly in service and distribution. I first came to Northamptonshire as a Director of a local ready mixed concrete company to settle with my new wife, Valerie in 1970. I spent many happy years in this position as we expanded across the Country.
We still live in the same home which we share with Milly our black and white character cat, close to our Son and Daughter in Law.
Looking for a new challenge I established a prepacking company distributing hardware to the fast growing DIY sector. As the sector began to lose steam, my next venture was as a coffee distributor which I continued until I sold the business to a local company in 2009, with whom I continued as a consultant for some time.
Through the latter years I gained considerable experience in the charity sector as a volunteer for a local ‘Young Carers’ charity working alongside our Daughter.
Towards the end of 2012, I co -founded the charity ‘a way with pain’ in conjunction with our Daughter, Julia, who was no stranger to Chronic Pain. With the challenge of raising awareness of the condition and offering support to those affected whenever we can.
I am passionate about making a contribution to changing the way in which society regards and understands chronic pain and am delighted to be part of Pain UK on this journey.
